Hi All,
We now have five more days at sea until San Diego. It's been so special for all of us. What a tremendous learning experience. We learned more about conservation and sustainability because we saw how people around the world do it. I think we learned respect for other people beliefs, religions and cultures. We learned how fast kids grow . Our 8 yr old is now 18 , and it only took four months? Traci is now possibly the most marketable NP on the planet. She has seen allot and handled it w/ professionalism and compassion few are able to achieve.
I've had time away from the pressures of the insurance industry which I hope will help me focus on the most important aspects of a successful small business.
I've got some great creative ideas , new works, and new contacts for FishAye Trading Co.
There will be so much we all miss about what we have experienced it is going to be bitter sweet. The view of the open open, sunrises and sunsets hundreds of miles from shore , the adventure of it all, knowing the gift we have given our kids will stay w/ them. Part of this voyage has been an endurance game as well. The pace has been day in day out. It will be nice to return to a bit of a routine and not spend all day everyday w/ the little people as much as we love them.
See you soon

This is so bittersweet to read!! I am happy you all will be home to family, the holidays and regular routines, but so bummed to know that our adventures along here with you will too be coming to an end. I can not tell you how much I have enjoyed this blog. It has been one of my daily highlights when I logged on to find a new post. The adventurous spirit that you guys have shown your kids has reached far beyond the screen. Thank you both for letting us in! And thanks for the pic of the room-- after seeing it the boys said "So they get to stay in a hotel on the water?"
ReplyDeleteEnjoy these last few days at sea. I look forward to seeing you all on land sooner rather than later!
All my love:: Sarah
P.S. - Like they do to wrap-up reality shows in posting "Where are they now..." video follow-ups once the show is over, we are all expecting a post or two upon getting home to learn how the transition back into the real world goes for the Doherty clan!
Johnnie, What an insightful blog...but for me the most special part of it was your thoughtful generous recognition of your wife's skill integrity and compassion. Bless you both!
ReplyDeleteLove, Mom
Thank you for taking us along virtually on your incredible around-the-world journey. It was fascinating, educational and inspiring for all of us. We are all excited to welcome you back home. Warmth, good friends, family, holiday lights, and a building that is looking like a brand new school at the top of your street await! Victoria is seriously counting down the days. Big question in our house now is: Do we or don't we clean out the fish and frog bowls before your arrival. Hmmm.... If there is anything we can do to help ease your transition home, let us know. Otherwise we'll make something up ourselves. Stay safe and happy and welcome back to the States! The Lesser's
ReplyDeleteHi guys - The pictures are beautiful! Your blogs have been amazing and I will truly miss them. I loved the days when I logged on and found a new blog. I imagine you guys will miss the voyage but are probably ready for a more normal routine and to have time away from each other. When you are settled I would love to come up for a visit. I will be in touch. Take care - Love, Lisa Pizza
ReplyDeleteWell done, Johnnie. You've all shared experiences that will change your lives forever. Enjoy these last few days; 21 degrees this morning. Can't wait 'til you're home. Bump
ReplyDeleteIt is so great to read your reflections on this huge, wonderful adventure. We are eagerly awaiting your arrival home and hope that your last few days at sea are filled with fun -- and manageable waves.
ReplyDeleteSoak up those rays, too: the toughest part of transitioning back to real life and routine might just be the temperature difference from Hawaii!! xoxox Karen
